Meat Attack

A 53-year-old woman was arrested for hitting a man repeatedly with a raw steak because he reject the slice of bread she offered. Instead he wanted a bread roll. After refusing medical assistance he claimed she was his live-in girlfriend. She was charged with abuse of a disabled man and was released with a $2500 bond. What is this world coming too? Is there any decency left?

Obama's Sending Troops to Afghanistan by the Thousands

More than 21,000 already.According to MSNBC.com, President Obama's plan is to “disrupt, dismantle and defeat” the terrorist al-Qaida network in Afghanistan and neighboring Pakistan. Because it's not like our country is in debt or anything. There's nothing wrong with wanting to protect our country. On our own soil. But going to other countries and meddling is a little extreme. That's why many people voted for Obama in the first place; they thought he would pull troops out of Iraq.
What concerned me was that the article failed to explain or specify what the troops are really doing there.
Is sending troops to Afghanistan a good idea? How will it benefit us and what sacrifices are being made in the process?

Here is another article that is a more recent update.

Father Kidnaps Daughters!

http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/11/30/delaware.family.abductions/index.html
Christine Belford let David Matusiewicz, her ex-husband take their 3 daughters on a 2 week trip to Disneyland. Christine didn't see her daughters for 19 months. Her ex-husband is now facing 30 years in prison for his crime. Each year 200,000 children are victims of family abductions in the United States. Family abductions don't make the news as much as stranger abductions do. Most kidnappings happen with someone you know.

Blazers' Key Players Down

Greg Oden, another one of their key players, broke the patella bone in his knee and is most likely out for the season. Travis Outlaw and Nicolas Batum have also missed games do to injuries. 3 Girls went missing when their dad took them

This was an unusual kidnapping. Most police say that the family member that kidnaps the kid/children return them with in a few days. "Sometimes, abductions occur because the parent is angry, Shriner said, but they usually change their minds within a few days." The mother of these 3 girls thought she was letting her ex take the girls to Disneyland. Mr. Matusiewicz didn't return the girls for 19 months. The police also found out that the Disneyland trip was a fake. The ex-husband is also bing charged with fraud. He's goes Thursday to be sentence.

What do you think he's sentence should be?

Celebrations in the NFL

Cincinnati wide receiver Chad Ochocinco (OSU) was up to his old antics on Sundday. After scoring diving to haul in a 36-yard touchdown pass from Carson Palmer in the second quarter, the wide receiver formerly known as Chad Johnson returned to the Cincinnati sideline and put on a sombrero and poncho. For whatever reason, the NFL fined him $30,000 for his actions. Chad Ochocinco is known in the NFL for his very entertaining celebrations, but apparantly the NFL finds this as an insult to other teams or for some reason they don't approve of it.

Nepal is forced to reduce their food aid to half a million people.

The World Food Programme (WFP) is forcing Nepal to cut their food aid due to their funding shortage. They say that people in the region are facing food shortage due to winter drought, and monsoons.

You know my opinion is that we need to help them out by giving them more shelter, and helping them with their funds.

What would you do if you were in this same situation where you were stuck in a country with winter drought, monsoons, and no food?

Obama and Troops

On Dec. 1 President Barack Obama gave the speech many had been anticipating since his inauguration — the final decision on what is to be done with the situation in Afghanistan. After the events of Sept. 11, 2001, the United States launched a war on terrorism against al-Qaida just a month after the initial attacks. Now, a little more than eight years later, 30,000 additional American troops will be sent back to the country in an attempt to finish the job.

Plastics...

With the advent of plastics, synthetic materials, and other chemically based compounds, our world would be unrecognizable to our great-great grandparents. Take a quick inventory of your life, and things that use. Do you have polyester clothing, water bottles, Tupperware, buy anything that is packages in plastic, car seats, eye glasses? The keyboard you are typing on now is plastic, an many innovative other products that make life more convenient and enjoyable. However, do we ever stop to look at the costs of our modern super material? Please take the time to read this article:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/8361863.stm

Understanding the environmental impacts of plastic, a non decomposable substance, and the health risks associated with plastics and their chemicals, what should we do about our consumption of plastics? One personal choice my family has made is to cloth diaper our child. Using cloth diapers will help reduce waste, save money (it costs $2500 to diaper using disposables for two years, and about $500 in total supplies for cloth in the same period). So what is your take on plastics, and do you have any articles to back you?

Many people in the US believe that Iran lacks the right equipment to create a nuclear weapon. Even though the US doesn't know if Iran intends to create a nuclear weapon, they are still keeping minimal surveillance on the country. Many western countries, including the US, believe that Iran is planning to secretly make nuclear weapons. Iran still claims that their plan is only for peaceful purposes, but its continued uranium enrichment activities have many Western countries suspicious.

john and kate plus eight, devided by john minus eight equals a waste of TV

for those of you following the John and Kate plus eight drama, this is for you, for the last few months Gossip magizines, TV shows, news shows and more, have been building on the tragic relationship issues that john and kate have been enduring, if its not bad enough that there marrage has failed, add in the fact that america cant keep there nose out of the story, how pitful could your life be that you would have to spend your spare time checking up on the "dirty laudry" of some other familly... thats not only weird its also kind of a waste of time. i dont know about you but it would be nice to go to roths one day and not see some headline like "baby sitter has affair with john" or "john leaves kate alone on anniversery". its simply rediculous yes maybe its entertaining for some people to read about someone elses drama, but what most of the "john and kate followers" fail to realize is that THEY ARE ACTUAL PEOPLE and the fact that they have a TV show doesnt make this devorce any different for them then it is for every other person in the world, theyre going through the same pain, anger, confusion and saddness as every other person who has had to deal with something like this, only amplified by the media. right when they start to get over this, they turn the corner theres anther tabloid about how kates a bad mom. has it ever accured to you that maybe they could have worked through this and saved there familly if the media would have stayed out of it and stopped fanning the flames. now kate is stuck alone raising the kids on the newly named show "kate plus eight" while john runs off and "finds him self" .

Kidnapping has Gotten Out of Hand in Mexico

"Once you are inside one of these unauthorized or "pirate" taxi cabs, anything can happen, because no one knows where you are or is held accountable for your whereabouts." While in Mexico it is important not to show how wealthy you are. Most likely if people know how wealthy you are the more likely you will be kidnapped. Some kidnappers work in groups. Learning the routine of a person.
If your a young child, or a person of wealth, or even a tourists you can be kidnapped. If your kidnapped for wealth they usually hold you for ransome.
This is a growing problem in Mexico. "Kidnapping Express" is one name for it.

Apparently Andrew McMahon submitted songs for New Moon, but was sadly rejected. Personally, I like Something Corporate better, although JM is AMAZZING!!

The U.S., Britain, France, Germany, China, and Russia demand that Iran explain their intentions with the nuclear weapons. Iran tells them it is peaceful and energy-related only. The allies believe it is a stall tactic to listen to what Iran has to say.

This is the range that Iran could fire its missiles

The President of the World Bank, Robert B. Zoellick, held a meeting on Monday concerning the current economic crisis. He said that the public, and Congress think the letting the Feds be in control of finances is kind of sketch, and that the supervisory role should be given to the Treasury. He stated, ""It should not be a surprise that American democracy is hesitating about authorizing the Fed to supervise systemic banking risks as well as operate monetary policy, adding to its power." And went on explaining that the Federal Reserve has too much power, and that the people would be able to kind of see what's going on/keep the Treasury in check if they were in charge.

Will the Colorado River be gone forever?

Many people believe that the Colorado River may dry up by 2050. This would greatly impact many people living in Arizona and Southern California because they use this water for drinking and irrigation. Large storage capacities of reservoirs might help control the amount of water used for a couple decades, but nothing is for certain. "On average, drying caused by climate change would increase the risk of fully depleting reservoir storage by nearly ten times more than the risk we expect from population pressures alone," said Balaji Rajagopalan of the University of Colorado. This coming year will be the Colorado River's 10th year of drought. There have been several other studies confirming the potential danger of water shortage in the river. This will be determined by the extent of the dry climate, water management, and conservation strategies.

Dog plays fetch with Live Grenade

In Germany a dog playing fetch found and delivered to it's owner a live grenade from World War II. Police came to the town of Erkrath and took the object to identify and defuse it. The police were called by the 40-yr old owner when she stopped walking her dog and realized the rusty object that her dog was carrying it's in mouth.
Grenades and bombs left over from World War II are still often found in Germany.

Sometimes even whole towns are evacuated so that the bomb can be diffused properly!

Don't ask, don't tell

The Supreme Court yesterday declined to hear a constitutional challenge to the Pentagon's "don't ask, don't tell" policy banning openly gay people from serving in the U.S. military.

"I think this decision is an absolute travesty of justice and I think every judge on this court should be ashamed of themselves," said Pietrangelo, who served six years in the Army, seven years in the Vermont National Guard, and fought in Iraq in 1991.

Times are changing, and the public is more supportive of letting gays serve in the military.
According to a July 2008 Washington Post/ABC News poll, 75 percent of Americans favor allowing gays to serve openly in the services, compared with 44 percent in 1993.

Its only a matter of time before gays can serve openly in the military. Gays solders have just as many rights as straight solders do and having to "stay in the closet" is injustice...This is United States of America...The land of the FREE! All men and woman are created EQUAL! This is INJUSTICE! Gays and Lesbians are PEOPLE too!

LET GAYS SERVE in the military!

Air Strike gone bad.

Last month an air srike was called in against Talaban militants. The strike hit it's target, and much more. The strike flowed onto the civilians that we say we are there to protect. The personel in charge of the Air Strike justifies the actions of the troops by saying that the number of militants killed "greatly outnumbered" the number of civilians.

This is crap, the military has extensive training methods, and they know what the Geneva Convention says about killing civilians with no provacation. As of right now, there is not going to be any sort of court martial or any sort of trial. This is where more and more Americans will adopt anti-war beliefs, just like in Vietnam, based off of immoral treatment to civilians.

Russia a No Show?

Russia threatened to not go to the meeting of senior military people from NATO. Since we all know that Russia is the world's leading consumer of heroin, could this be a coincidence?

According to Rueters, "Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has warned NATO already that the exercises could hinder efforts to unfreeze the alliance's relations with Moscow, suspended after the Georgia war."

It's being held in Georgia, a now-sovereign territory that had a war with Russia.

It's not very mature to not go somewhere just because someone you don't like is there.

Japan Pledges 1 Billion Dollars to Aid Pakistan

The two met ahead of international meetings in Tokyo on Friday that will include the United States, China, and the European Union, as well as other donors.

In return it is expected to give assurances it is committed to economic reform and to fighing a rising Islamist insurgency.

Japan meanwhile is hoping hosting the conference will help increase its international clout. The world's second biggest economy has long punched beneath its weight because its post-war pacifist constitution makes it reluctant to send troop abroad.

The Switch from Cars to Motorcycles

On average motorcycles get from a range of 30-120 MPG, much better than any car in the market today. That right there should be insentive enough to switch and in these new problems we face. Even 30 MPG sounds better than a 20 MPG car. Though you do need to buy extra safety equipment and participate in safety coarses, there is nothing like riding a motorized vehicle in the open air. No need to worry about A/C. With the speed your going and the leather equipment, you will not only be comfortable in all temperatures, but also look good while riding. Even the amount of space needed to park the motorcycle is half of a compact car! Overall you have to do more work than buying a car, but in the long run you'll be an eco friendly driver.
