North Korea has recently made new threats against its neighbor South Korea. On Monday North Korea's military threatened that it could reduce South Korea to ashes in a matter of minutes. The U.N. has warned North Korea to stop these threats and saying it will not be tolerated.
North Korea has also spoke about there ability to destroy the United States as well recently. They are an unstable country and something needs to be done. The U.N. fears for the Korean Peninsula but no actions have been taken against them.

Director Peter Jackson has unveiled 10 minutes of footage of The Hobbit, starring British actor Martin Freeman (Bilbo Baggins). The Hobbit prequels The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and has been shot at a rate of 48 frames per second, compared with the industry standard of 24 frames.
The footage included scenes of skirmishing trolls, Gollum's cave and Sir Ian McKellen and Orlando Bloom as Gandalf and Legolas once again on the Silver Screen.
The Los Angeles Times apparently claimed the footage was "hyper-realistic," as aerial landscape shots appeared clearer than they would in the average nature documentary. In contrast, the Associated Press reported that "the actors looked almost touchable, as if they were performing live on stage".
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is the first chapter in Jackson's two-part adaptation of JRR Tolkien's fantasy classic and releases this summer. Part two, The Hobbit: There and Back Again, is due in December 2013. The films were shot back-to-back in 3D.
I don't know about you guys, but I've grown up watching this epic trilogy and have long anticipated these new editions to it.

When Akian, a 10 year old boy with autism, was accused by his school of having "violent outbursts" at school, his father claimed it was against his "sweet and non-violent" nature. To try to see what was going on, Stuart Chaifetz, the boys father, sent his son to his New Jersey Horace Mann Elementary School wearing a hidden recorder. The tape returned with hours of verbal and emotional abuse from two of his teachers. They talked about their inappopriate behaviors like joking about their alcohol abuse and sex lives in front of their students, who all have behavioral conditions. They also were caught yelling at the boy for talking to himself, which he sometimes does. Chaifetz later posted this recording on YouTube and recieved many emails of others with special needs being bullied by their teachers. Many of the parents were desperate to find out what was happening to their child and asked for help on how to wire them.

In St. Louis a 5 year old boy who was in need of a heart transplant was taken without permission for the St Louis hospital. He was found with his father and paternal grandmother at a motel early Wednesday. Illinois State Police said the three were found at a motel in Alsip, south of Chicago, at about 3 a.m., and that the boy, Porter Stone, appeared to be fine but was taken to a local hospital. St. Louis prosecutors charged Jeffrey Stone and Matthews on Wednesday with kidnapping, interfering with custody and endangering the welfare of a child. Porter is on the hospital's heart transplant waiting list and was going to be monitored by doctors closer to his mother's home.

Teachers at a New Jersey school were reported verbally abusing 10 year old boy, Akian, at Horace Mann Elementary School. One day he hit his teacher and a teacher's aide. Akian's father said that it was totally weird that he did that because he is such a nice and gentle boy. His father wanted to find out what was going on and why his son was acitng so violent out of nowhere. So his father put a digital recorder in Akian's pocket, and he went to school the whole day, and the teachers were calling Akian names, making fun of him, yelling at him and having inappropriate conversations in front of the children. This is very sad, and now we know it's not only students bullying other students.

An all white killer whale was spotted off the coast of Russia in the Pacific Ocean. due to the large white dorsal fin, the whale has been named "Iceberg". The whale is approximately 16 years of age according to scientists. Iceberg is currently living in a pod of 12 other orcas. This is not the first whale to be all white but it is to be this largest and be this old. Scientist hope to find this whale this summer to help determine if the whale is either albino or other reasons for this white color.

Poachers with helicopters slaughtered 22 elephants in the Democractic Republic of Congo. Elephants and many other large animals are hunted for their extremely valuable ivory tusks or horns; an average sized elephant tusk is worth approximately ~$5000. The cost per kg of ground African rhino horn is ~$10,000, more expensive than cocaine. The tusks were likely smuggled into Asia. Two elephants and rhinos per day are poached in South Africa alone. It is very illegal and government conservation groups hunt the poachers, but it still happens because the demand is so huge and the supply is so limited.

A fertility clinic in Bellevue, WA is causing some controversy after an advertisement was posted stating, 'Families can choose if they want to have a boy or a girl'. While it isn't surprising that some facilities are offering gender selection it is striking that they are openly advertising something that is this ethically controversial.
In Salem Oregon at Chemeketa Community College Sophia Downing, 31, convicted of first-degree manslaughter and one count of assault in a crash that killed two teen pedestrians and injured a third. Downing was under the influence of drugs including muscle relaxant and insomnia medication.
This story shocked me because it is at the college that mosty everyone wants to go to after high school is Chemeketa. This is very frightening I think because it is in Salem, and it is so close to us living in Independence/Monmouth.

Basically in Jerusalem a Bahrain Grand Prix is coming up on Sunday, and its a pretty big event. And people are mad at the government because there is so much more important things going on than a grand prix. Theres masacres all the time but the government has other things to do apparantly. So people took to the streets and did a protest yesterday. The government was aware of this protest and sent a tweet saying any participation will be seen as illegal who attend will be seen as going againts the government and treated as an act of sabotage. That did not stop the people from protesting they were faced with stun grenades and tear gas. Opposition group Al Wefaq posted photos of protesters sprayed with what they said was birdshot.

Life in Prison for three men who paralyzed girl in shooting
Luara Smith-Spark is the writer of this article and mentions that three men were sentence to life in prison. A five year old little girl was at the store and in moments later she was shot in her chest.This little remains is in a wheelchair and will need help for the rest of her life. The three men convicted were Anothony McCalla, Kazeem Kolawole, and Nathaniel Grant in the court of London. Now those men face alot of years in prison. Police officers that have been working on this case are taking charity to raise money for this little girl Thusha.
Authorities are trying to determine why a car collided with an Amtrak train near Guadalupe, about 10 miles west of Santa Maria in California.
The crash was reported around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday along state Highway 1. The driver of the car, a Ford Focus, was killed, and the infant girl riding in the car was taken to MarianRegionalMedicalCenter.
Amtrak spokeswoman Christina Leeds said none of the 132 passengers or crew aboard the train reported injuries.
The train, traveling from Seattle to Los Angeles, was delayed about four hours.

11 agents and 10 military personal have been accused of questionable behavior and hiring prostitutes. Three of the accused agents have already been forced out. One of these agents already is planning a lawsuit against the agency.
I think everyone who was involved in this issue should be terminated. It is very unprofessional to do this, especially when in charge of protecting the president. I don't believe they would have any grounds to sue the agency. They not only embarrassed themselfs but also their country.

Gary Haugen was to be killed by lethal injection, which he volunteered for, isn't getting it as planned. Apparently the date was canceled or something and the lawyers have to go argue something or another and then they'll see about it I guess.
Cosmic rays are a hot topic in astrophysics right now, it is believed that a single strand of cosmic rays can have more energy than that of our ENTIRE sun. If this is true it is amazing and physicists are searching space for these rays to try and trace their origin. By learning how these rays react and where they come from, physicists believe they can deduce how they are created. There are two suspected sources of these cosmic rays, they are gama ray bursts and supermassive black holes in active galaxies. Astrophysicist Julie McEnry said that the findings that Icecube made in Antartica are a "Huge breakthrough". Icecube is a project on the South pole that looks for nutrinos, which are particles said to exceed the speed of light. These nutrinos are supposedly linked to the cosmic rays. Japanese man Jiroemon Kimura he is 115 he was born in 1897 he is very old.He worked at a post office until he retired at 65.He lives in Japan and never misses a meal and always reads the morning paper.He has 5 children, 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren.He is on Japans list of top 10 oldest people alive in Japan.I wonder if anyone who reads this will live that long.

Tom and his wife pleaded guilty to charges involving the killing of at least two members of the first known wolf pack in WashingtonState in 70 years. Tom and his wife Erin both agreed to pay a $35,000 fine and both will serve a year in prison when sentenced in July. Anders Behring Breivik, admitted that he killed 77 people in Norway last summer. He then tried to kill the prime minister and other government ministers by bombing a building in Oslo.
This guy said that he would practice his killings from the videogames, "Modern Warfare" and "World of Warcraft." He said he would aim for the younger adults around the age of 18 to kill also. He said he would do what he did all over again. This guy is a psycho.

The inmates, armed with homemade knives, overpowered guards at the Kansas jail after complaining about a broken water line in the holding cell area, Ottawa County Sheriff Keith Coleman told The Salina Journal.
The two should be considered armed and dangerous, police said, warning that they could be in or near to North Platte, Neb., after another inmate turned up there.
I'm glad I'm not living near the Kansas jail. I would be terrified. Although I did live next to the Women's State Pen. in California as a child. Some lady broke out once but I was too young to understand what was going on.

John Brennan set off an explosives detecting wand at PDX on April 17th, triggering a search by the TSA. He immediately stripped completely naked in protest of the search and prove that he had no explosive device; removing his clothes was not premeditated. After getting naked, he stood while people walked by and took pictures.
Brennan believes that Americans shouldn't have to put up with the TSA. After the incident, he was taken to Multnomah County Jail and booked on disorderly conduct and indecent exposure, but was released.

President Obama gave tribute to Rosa Parks by sitting on the same bus she did in Montgomery Alabama in 1955. Officials in Suffolk Virginia believe a brush fire started after juveniles lit a snapping turtle on fire on Tuesday April 17th. "Debbie George, Interim Chief of Staff for the City of Suffolk said that the fire started in a wooded area near an apartment complex in the 6000 block of College Drive around 5:30 p.m." Fire investigators say a dead snapping turtle was set on fire and lit the brush on fire. Debbie George said the investigation is still continuing and there could be charges toward the juveniles. The ages of the juveniles still haven't been released. I think that the juveniles should get in trouble for starting the fire.

This old lady was caught with 4lbs of marijuana and is now arrested in Oklahoma. Apparently seniors are now looking into the drug business to get some extra cash for there "golden years" here is the video.

4. FDA Launches Mobile Device To Find Tainted Eggs
The Food and Drug Administration has turned a mobile tablet that it calls the "Egg Pad" into a virtual detective squad to uncover the presence of tainted eggs and health violations during farm inspections. Using a Panasonic Toughbook and software developed for the FDA by Booz Allen Hamilton, the Egg Pad guides inspectors through a series of questions. Based on the answers, the device brings up additional questions and information the inspectors need to answer.
A middle school student is being credited with saving a school bus full of kids after he drove the bus to safety after the driver passed out behind the wheel from an apparent heart attack.
13-year-old Jeremy Wuitschick told Q13 Fox he was riding the bus to school Monday morning when he noticed something was wrong with the driver.
American troops have returned to Pakistan in what is believed to be the first requested-presence mission since the U.S. military was ordered to leave last year amid a meltdown in the countries' relations.
