La Salle is onto the finals after defeating Cottage Grove in shootouts (4-2) final score 1-0. They are now facing McLoughlin. This will continue a long rivalry between the two who have played for the championship against eachother many times. They have met in the finals more times than any other teams in the state. 9 Year Old Murdered

In Jefferson City, MO, a 15 year old girl is being charged with first degree murder. The girl told investigators that she killed her 9 year old neighbor because she wanted to know what it felt like to kill somebody. Authorities haven't released any information on how the girl was killed. The suspects lawyer does not think that the girl should be charged as an adult because she could be assaulted in jail awaiting trial...wow.

Guantanamo closing will be postponed

Obama released that his January 22 deadline for closing Guantanamo will not happen. He said that Guantanamo will be closed sometime within the next year. I believe they should keep Guantanamo open, and keep suspected terrorists out of the Continental United States.

Call of Duty:Modern Warfare 2 has been Banned in Russia

The new call of duty game has been banned in Russia for depicting Russians as a "evil gun men who wants to kill everyone". A censored version may be allowed but until now the game is not being sold there. Has anyone else heard of this or I am the only one who didn't know?

Handling the Situation

Shortage of the swine flu vaccine has reached its sixth week mark. Health officials say they are handling the problem. The shortage is due to the fact that we are relying on factories in other countries who are using 50 year old equipment to produce the vaccine. Why, if this "epidemic" is such a big deal, aren't we use our up-to-date technology to produce the vaccine that we so desperately need?

Health Care

"U.S. Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid plans to unveil broad healthcare reform legislation on Wednesday with a first test vote on the package possible by the weekend." Apparently he's been waiting to estimate costs and win the 60 votes needed to clear Republican procedural hurdles. For anyone who doesn't know, the bill merges two health care measures that would expand coverage to tens of millions of uninsured "Americans".

Plastics...

With the advent of plastics, synthetic materials, and other chemically based compounds, our world would be unrecognizable to our great-great grandparents. Take a quick inventory of your life, and things that use. Do you have polyester clothing, water bottles, Tupperware, buy anything that is packages in plastic, car seats, eye glasses? The keyboard you are typing on now is plastic, an many innovative other products that make life more convenient and enjoyable. However, do we ever stop to look at the costs of our modern super material? Please take the time to read this article:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/8361863.stm

Understanding the environmental impacts of plastic, a non decomposable substance, and the health risks associated with plastics and their chemicals, what should we do about our consumption of plastics? One personal choice my family has made is to cloth diaper our child. Using cloth diapers will help reduce waste, save money (it costs $2500 to diaper using disposables for two years, and about $500 in total supplies for cloth in the same period). So what is your take on plastics, and do you have any articles to back you?

California is Banning TV's

California won't be selling televisions unless they are energy efficient. Beginning in 2011, all new TV's up to 58" must be energy efficient or they won't be sold anywhere in Cali. In 2013 the standard will change and be more strict and only a quarter of the TV's on market today will meet it. Why ban TV's when there are more things in the home that Suck energy like a vacuum cleaner?

Wife Killed over Wanting a Divorce

Her husband killed her when she was meeting up with the divorce attorney. The following Tuesday night Travis Kendall killed himself. "According to Frasier, 22-year-old Ashley Kendall is in extremely critical condition after the bullet entered her upper back and exited her chest." Travis was sent to jail in October and when he was released from jail he was not to have any contact with Ashley Kendall.
Why would a husband want to kill his wife, just because she wants a divorce? She has every right to divorce the man and I can kind of see why she wanted to.
