Salmonella Outbreak
Since the outbreak of salmonella in peanut products at the plant in Georgia; 604 people have gotten sick, 187 have been sent to the hospital, and eight people have been killed. So is peanut butter safe to eat now? Well, thousands of peanut products have been pulled off store shelves since mid-January, but the FDA doesn't have the right to recall the plants contaminated products without their permission. I think it is ridiculous that there is almost nothing that can be done to stop companies from shipping contaminated food. I think it is something that needs to change in the system. A federal criminal investigation into the outbreak is soon to be faced by the Peanut Corporation of America, FDA announced in January. So I suggest that for now, you don't eat the peanut products.

I did not know that companies could continue to ship contaminated products to stores. I agree that this is not fair to the consumer.
