Current Events in Chile

Here is what is recently happening in Chile:

Helicopter crash kills 13- A helicopter carrying 12 firefighters crashed into a mountain, caught on fire, and killed all including the pilot. No cause for the crash has been specified, but investigation could take up at least 30 days.

Chile is "very satisfied" with China's investment- China's Chinalco company has invested in Chile's Escondida copper mines.

Endesa invests $24 million- Endesa, Chile's primary electricity generator, plans to build a small hydroelectric plant to the south of it's capital, Santiago.

Despite the economic crisis, Chilean peso rose one percent as "President Barack Obama released $75 billion to subsidize cuts in mortgage payments for millions of struggling borrowers. "
