When blogging, what importance is there on ethics and communicating clearly through proper English conventions and grammar?

  2. Bloggers can use their blogs to rant or complain, talk about their day, or voice their 'professional' opinion about current events. Most of the time, a blog is just a blog. People want to voice their opinion, which they are entitled to. However, when communicating to the world or the blogging community it is important to write clearly and accurately if you want to be taken seriously. It isn't your duty to be a journalist and make everything perfect but your are more credible as a blogging-'journalist' if you do.

  3. If you use proper conventions and grammar, you will be taken more seriously than any other blogger who does not care about what they write. If you write clearly and properly, you will be more likely to be considered a credible source.

  4. Serious blogs usually do have good grammar, and good punctuation, but many do not. When you do use correct grammar, it makes it much easier to read and respond to. And to give a blog credibility, using good grammar is important.

  5. Communicating clearly is important because using the same english conventions and grammer as the other bloggers will make it easier to communicate and understand one another.

  8. It is very important in comunicating clearly, it helps other bloggers futher understand the point you are trying to pursue/get across. If you dont blog clearly it will make it hard for other bloggers to reply and give imput/cunstructive criticism to help improve your blog and the blogs you will continue to make in the future.

  11. Spelling and punctuation is not my forte. I try my hardest to make sure that everything is spelled right and even take the time to type what I want to say in “Word” before I do any posting. Sometimes “Word” in not in my tools to use to make sure that my spelling and punctuation is accurate making it hard for me to correctly type what I want to say. So I don’t think that the creditability should be based on their punctuation and spelling but rather on what that person has to say. But if a person does not make a good point and their spelling and punctuation is off, then that person’s creditability should be considerably lower then one who does not have good punctuation and spelling but a strong point in their statement.

  12. Well i think that if you are a serious blogger or want to be considered as a "journalist"
then you need to have correct grammer and conventions. If you are serious about it, then more people will give you credibility.

  13. With all of these comments about ethics in mind, how can we as a culture and a group of bloggers increase our credibility and participitation in the creation of the news?

  14. By finding the best stories and listening to the most credible eye witnesses(other news groups) we can come up with some pretty interesting blogs.

  15. "Well I was reading from the salem monthly that blogging is excluded from the media code of ethics becuase any person with a laptop can do it. Personally I disagree with this becuase media is many things; It could be entertaining, informative, ect. and know one can really define what that illusive sasquatch really is." Newbeck

  16. We as a culture and a group of bloggers can increase our credibility and participation in the creation of the news by simply staying to the facts, updating the facts when nesscessary, and writing down our own thoughts and ideas related to the topic.

  17. Im not gonna sound smart like everyone else...but i think what your trying to ask is, why do you need to sound smart when you talk on a blog. ha. well, maybe its becuase you want people to think you are smart by what you say. so if you sound smart, people are more likely to believe your opinion because you sound like you know what your talking about. BUT if thats not even what the question is asking, then i feel really dumb right about now!

  18. If you want to be heard, you must make your opinions clear and accurate. No one wants to listen to someone who isn't fully conscious of what they are trying to communicate, or who sounds "stupid".

  20. I don't think bloggers are ever going to take place of the standerd news. bloggers are supposed to take the news to a people level. that means including your opinion whatever that may be. As a blogger you have a responsibility to the facts but you also have a responsibility to share your opinion and voice.

  22. If you want people to listing to you and taking you serious you have to have accurate news and put your own opinions on it.
so that people can read what you think about the news.

  25. When it comes to blogging i think there is a huge difference between ethics and grammer. A blog is someones personal beliefs on a subject posted for anyone to see. It should not have to be edited or said to be unethical. A blogger should be able to say what they want on a subject, whether its inappropriate or not. When it comes to communicating properly I think spelling and grammer are very important especially if you are trying to get a important point across
