Germany is planning to send 600 additional soldiers to Afghanistan to help safeguard presidential elections in August. A NATO diplomat in Brussels said the troops would arrive six weeks before the polls and remain until all voting was concluded. Germany already has some 3,500 German personnel deployed in Afghanistan as part of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force.

  1. Are the presidential elections for Afghanistan? Did Afghanistan ask for help? I am not saying it is a bad thing to help the people out, but who decides that the Germans get to do this. Maybe I just need more information.
