Secret forced sterilizations in Uzbekistan
In Uzbekistan, thousands of women are being sterilized under government order without consent. Some human rights activists say the government order is meant to reduce to number of poor people. Doctors were under pressure from the health ministry to perform Caesarean sections, then sterilize the women without obtaining their consent. Many women began choosing to undergo home births to avoid risks of being sterilized, but were still being told lies to get them to have surgery to be sterilized.

This situation in Uzbekistan is completely rediculous. No women should be sterilized unknowingly. The government is taking control over their nautral rights and taking away their right to have children. The sad thing is that this is happening in many different places around the world. These women are being treated as if they are animals. This issue is senseless and needs to be stopped. How would you feel to unwillingly get your right to have children taken away to try to reduce the "poor population"?

  2. That is messed up. Women should choose to be sterilized or not. Why hasn't anyone done something? If this article has been publishd and is now common knowledge the goverment should be punished for these crimes.

  5. I feel terrible for those women. I feel even more for the government in the sense that they would ever in a million years consider such drastic actions towards its own population. This makes me think of China's "One Child Law", only exponentially worse. It's quite unfortunate to see what goes on in the world these days, moreso that there isn't much we can do to stop it; only speculate. :(

    1. First of all, this isn't China. Second, whether or not there are a lot of people, the government has no right to take away a women's human right without her consent or knowledge.
