Female lion crucifies zookeeper

A lioness has mauled a 65-year-old zoo keeper on Parys Zoo Farm in South Africa about 75 miles south-west of Johannesburg. Joe Ramanata worked for the zoo over forty years, and was an experienced animal handler. Zoo spokeswoman Letta Madlala said that he was “either feeding or cleaning an enclosure” when the 11-year-old lioness attacked him. Another spokeswoman said that the incident may have been due to “human error”, as the enclosure was apparently unlocked at the time of Joe’s death.
I can’t imagine how dreadful it was for his wife to receive the news, but honestly, I don’t feel like this is THAT big of a deal. The most pathetic part of the whole ordeal is the lack of precautions taken to avoid the loss of human life, because realistically, people die every day. I mean, the guy was 65; he was going to die anyway. Sure, it’s pretty tragic, having to mourn the loss of a loved one, especially considering the circumstances of his death, but I feel like after working at the zoo for as long as he did, it was bound to happen eventually. Again, the most disappointing factor about this mishap is that it could have been easily avoided. Or could it have?

  2. This sad because they probably had to put the lion down.

  3. Well, I believe that he should have been retired by this time and not working for the zoo.

  4. Atleast he died doing something he loved. He new the job could be dangerous and he continued to work at the zoo for 40 years.

  5. I think some of the things you wrote was a little harsh such as "I mean, the guy was 65; he was going to die anyway"

    3. I'm simply being realistic. Did I not state the severity of how tragic it was?
