This cartoon is saying Obama is being oblivious to things going on in other places of the world, like Egypt. I wonder if thats why he brought up gay marrige being okay with him now...?
Although this makes a good point, America has it's own obligations and can't always use up all its time and resources to a foreign country giving little in return. Yes the gay marriage thing seems brought in at the wrong time, but think about it: All that's been on the news is the outbreaks in the mid east. But this has been an internal issue for years now and we should appreciate the fact that he brought it up at all. We can't be held responsible for every country's struggle. To an extent we can aid, but what are we supposed to do about this? Send OUR military in? that would upset even more people, even so, sending troops in would be useless, they're riots, the only people that are dying are from the Police units in those individual countries opening fire, and that's in the name of safety. This is a political issue, not a safety issue. America can't do much but offer it's advice, which we have already done.
I definitely think the Uniited States needs to keep the focus on important matters such as helping the struggling nations in the Middle East. I think Obama would be wise to address those issues when speaking to the public.
Nobody ever said anything about sending our military. We weren't even involved, Obama just brought it up, he had given some sort of advice to Mubarak. His timing was not brought up at the "wrong time" it was brought up at the worst time! It is our job to be informed of what is going on in the world.
If you haven't watched BBC or ABC or any nation wide news coverage, including American online sites, all that's been on is the Middle East, one small issue gets brought up to boost morale in America and he gets slammed for it. Excuse him for trying to do two things at once. He knows exactly what's going on. He sided with the anti Mubarak protesters.
Two things at once isn't the smartest choice, especially since he brought up Egypt and made such a big deal out of it, and then brought up a topic that hasn't been a big topic in weeks! Ignorance isn't the problem. It's people with a bad argument.
