effects of substance abuse on society

Drug addiction is a public health problem that cost the U.S. $468 billion dollars in 2005.
50 to 80 percent of child abuse and neglect cases involve substance abuse by the children's parents.
Crimes related to drug abuse include stealing to obtain money needed to buy drugs, buying or selling drugs and offenses related to the lifestyle of drug abusers that result in illegal activities. Half of those arrested for serious crimes, including murder, robbery and assault, were under the influence of illegal drugs.
My question is do you  judge people who have a drug problem? Why? What do you think when you see a drug addict?

  1. I don't really judge people who do drugs, but I do think that its sad. Some people act like drugs are no big deal but from the expiriences Ive seen and heard of, drugs always end up messing up peoples lives in the long run. When I see a drug addict I just wonder why their life sucks so bad that they have to use drugs to make it good.
