Bats in northern Australian town prompt disease warning

A town in northern Australia has been invaded by more than 250,000 bats, prompting warnings of a potentially fatal disease related to rabies. The Center for Disease Control has warned the residents of a town in northern Australia to stay away from the invading fruit bats which may be carrying Lyssavirus. I personally find it scary to think that a potentially deadly virus could be looming within an animal flying around at night. It must suck to be living in that town right now.

  1. That is a pretty scary situation to think about and I hope nothing gets worse and more precautions are going to be taken to make sure diseases to become a major problem.

  2. Dang, why doesn't the goverment just temporarily evacuate the people there, and take care of the problem? Eventually you know some dumb kid or person is going to get infected or atleast have every one get some kind of immunization to help out? idk just seems like just giving the people a warning is not enough!

  3. That is pretty scary to think about. And if those bats might only be passing through the area, where are they going to next?
