Last week, a 16-year-old Moroccan girl was forced to marry her rapist. The current Moroccan penal code allows a rapist to escape punishment if he marries his victim. On Saturday, the victim, Amina Filali, killed herself by drinking rat poison. Not only is the Western world angry about this, but the Moroccan people are too.There are a lot of places around the world where women still aren't treated fairly. Morocco is a very civillized place, and it has recently reformed many laws to be more fair to women, but it still has a lot of old and unjust laws. I hope Morocco will be able to address their laws and prevent a tragedy like this from happening again.
