Fiscal Cliff
The Fiscal Cliff is a combinations of tax cuts and government spending cuts. The fiscal Cliff is if the fedreal government allows tax cuts and spending cuts to proceed, it would basically be the last straw on the Camel's back of economy. The silution is to maybe send it back to officaial recession, having it helping the economy not destroying it.
The Fiscal Cliff, and Zombies
the Fiscal Cliff cant hurt us cause its not physical. It will only hurt our wallets. we are safe.... unless zombies come to rise. To me we need to prepare for 12-21-2012. even if the world doesn't end there might be rioting and looting. The Government needs to prepare to protect our physical safety rather then our economic safety. This is always how it goes in Zombie movies, the government is stressed then one stupid scientist goes out and creates a zombie some how. Then every thing goes down and every thing is destroyed.
Beware of The Fiscal Cliff
Zombies!
Let's Get Fiscal!
Yes, as you may have heard, America is heading for a. . .
FISCAL CLIFF
Which sounds pretty scary. . . Personally, I'd prefer Fiscal Slope or Fiscal Hill, as they are much less scary. At least it isn't Fiscal Abyss.
Back on topic, the Fiscal Cliff is a methaphorical cliff where if our government doesn't reach a deal about 'something' (I'm not what it is, but I'm sure it doesn't matter) then there will be a ton of spending cuts and tax increases, which will probably lead us into another recession.
Now, of course, we could easily avoid the Fiscal Cliff, just as long as Democrats and Republicans are able to reach a compromise. . .
In other words, we're doomed. These guys couldn't agree on what color the sky is. It will be a miracle if these two parties actually cooperate.
Though, some people are saying that this Fiscal Cliff isn't really a big deal. . . So let's go with that; sounds a lot less scary.

Fiscal Cliff (cliff hanger)
What I think a Fiscal cliff will effect is our economic power. Instead of being a great superpower our country will go into another depression, and fall into a lower state than we ever have been. Fixing our debt and how much spending we are doing out of our country should be monitered closely.
Fiscal Cliff
The Fiscal Cliff is a term that refers to economic effects where the Uniter States government would have to increase the taxes, spending cuts and corresponding reduction. The Congressional Budget Office believes that if we go over the fiscal cliff by 2013 the US government will go into a recession. I'm not really sure what to do because I don't know how we'd be able to stop it.
The Fiscal Cliff conundrum.
My opinion of the fiscal cliff is that most of it is hype. The media seems to have blown it far beyond proportion, and it probably won't be a big deal when it happens. From the sites I read up on it, (all three of 'em) the fiscal cliff seems to be a nothing more then a tax change that will have little to no effect on much depending on congress' reaction. Furthermore, there seems to be the chance that it may even help our country with its deficit. Of course, chances are I have no idea what I'm talking about. I'm just some kid in a high school.
Fiscal Cliff
If other people dont know how to fix it, how am i going to be able to fix it. Im not even sure what it is. I know its a tax increase of 2%.
Lets get Fiscal Cliff, Fiscal
Opinion:
What I think of the Fiscal Cliff is that it will affect the economy and taxes some how at the end of 2012.
What I think of the Fiscal Cliff is that it will affect the economy and taxes some how at the end of 2012.
Fiscal Cliff and the end of the world precautions
The fiscal cliff will end up hurting our economy unless we do something about it. I honestly think after the 21st of this month there will be so many riots and chaos that I don't think that the fiscal cliff will make anything much better. It will hurt our wallets severely, also the cost of gas and a lot of other things. We need to make sure this doesn't happen. We need to prepare precations for the 21st. Even if the world doesn't end. People will end up rioting and going crazy thinking the world is going to end and there will probably end up being a lot of trouble and fear on the 21st. I honestly feel like we shouldn't have school on the 21st, not because people will want to stay home, but for the safety of both students and teachers alike. I know of a lot of people that will probably start riots here in the school and threaten peoples' lives and put the school into a lock down and I don't think anyone wants to do that.
So I think that there shouldn't be school on next friday. Just to be safe. Rather be safe then sorry.
So I think that there shouldn't be school on next friday. Just to be safe. Rather be safe then sorry.
Fiscal
I think it's annoying that people are freaking out about the fiscal cliff. Instead of freaking out and losing time. Focus on creating more jobs and not spending as much. It will be ridiculous if we go with the plan of leaving all the tax increases because all that is going to do is make us go into another recession. But we can't just ignore it can we.
to be completly honest, we will most likely fall into another recession. This recession probably won't be as bad as the one in 2008 but will take a toll on some americans. You would think that after dealing with our last great depression that we might learn from our mistakes, but i guess we were wrong.

Fiscal Cliff!
I have no clue what the fiscal cliff is all about. all i know is that its gonna effect the economy in someway like really bad.
Fiscal Fiscal Fiscal
People right now are very concerned with the fiscal cliff. Some people are even freaking out. I think that people are blowing things out of proportion, like they have done over and over again. I am not sure how I would fix it. I think that the presidents plan to make pay cuts and make us pay for his medicare plan is a bad idea though. Raising taxes and making pay cuts at the same time is obviously not a good idea. Thats my opinion on the fiscal cliff.

Israel Rocket to Palestine Car
Jabari military chief was killed in a car by Israel rocket striking in Hamas, Gaza City. In result tons of civilians were taken to the hospital being critically injured. Israel now only has two things to focus on protect its civilians and target the terror of what and who has done this.

Gaza gives birth…… to war
On Thursday Israel got an unexpected attach form Gaza killing three people. The ultimate question being why did Israel launch numerous airstrikes across Gaza ? So far Fifteen Palestinians killed 100 injured. This unexpected attack sending fear anxiety and tension among all. Early Thursday the funeral was held for Ahmed Jabari who was killed Wednesday.

Gangs In Society
According to Business Insider.com, there are more than 1.4 million people who wear the colors of more than 33,000 gangs across the country. the FBI says that gangs are only becoming more dangerous as time goes on. Some gangs have even begun sourcing weapons from the military.
On Marinij.com, there is an article disscussing a gang shooting. One man was shot in the back and taken too a hospital, the others fled before the police arrived. I think it is very sad how some people have to live like this, being afraid for their lives all the time. Gang violence is definantly something that needs to bge stopped.

On November 10, 2012 The Hamas Government was fired upon by Gaza Killing three civilians, which targeted General Ahmed Al-Jaabari one of the highest leaders in the Hamas government killing him, as Hamas leadership states "They opened the gates of hell."
Israel-Palestinian conflict
Both sides of the conflict have acted poorly. Palestine officials had numerous chances to name what they would prefer in a deal, and they refused to name their offer. Israel has reacted far to harshly to the attacks, and should of sought peaceful resolution in other forms. Israel could have opened new negotiations with Palestine instead of blaming the conflict on a single leader of an organisation. Palestine casualties are at most 4 times what the Israelis have suffered, and much of Israels losses would not have happened if they had not aggravated the conflict with further violence. Until both sides can agree to quit acting the way they are, we can expect this conflict to continue for many years.
Gaza and Israel, just stop!
Gaza and Israel are fighting and for very childish reasons. The facts are not all to clear unfortunately, so no one knows if this is a real fight or just pity squandering over petty territory. To me this whole conflict is dumb but it seems the U.S. is either trying to stay out of this conflict or is deciding which side to help. Either way the U.S. goes, the Gaza strip is in serious need of our help, Israel can and probably will level the Gaza strip for little to no reason.
Israel-Palestine Conflict (Episode 183)
Once again. . . Again, the conflict between Israel and Palestine escalates. As usual, Israel has decided that for every rock that is thrown at Israel, 2 missiles are returned back at Gaza. Israel likes to think that they're always the victim, but they certainly do not help the situation at all and have done their fair share of violence and destruction.
While I condemn the actions of Hamas and any terrorist group, I can understand why the Palestinians do not care for Israel. After all, Israel was once Palestine before the land was taken from them. Whenever radical Palestinians decide to kill innocent Israeli citizens, Israel decides that they should also kill innocent Palestinian civilians. Because Palestine is not its own state, Israel knows they can get away with this stuff, as well as the fact that America has a habit of blindly defending Israel no matter what they do. What's also disturbing is that this military action by Israel could be for the upcoming election.
In my opinion, the best way to solve this conflict is to make Palestine it's own state, and give them back a reasonable part of their land. Until that happens, I find it hard to believe that Israel is the victim in this situation, especially since they kill many more Palestinians than Palestinians kill Israelis.

Exaggeration in Israel.
A number of injured civilians were seen being taken to hospital in Gaza City. the Israeli military said 17 rockets fired from Gaza had been successfully intercepted by Israel's "Iron Dome" missile defence system on Wednesday, but one had got through and hit a "southern Israeli city". Israel say's they will do everything to protect their citizens. President Mahmoud Abbas, wants to put an immediate end to the aggression.
A girl injured from the rocket firing, and taking her in. She was rushed to the Gaza Strip hospital.
What do you think about all of this? Who would you side with more?

Isreal is the bomb
Palestine is a terrible place. I promise that I'm not being biased. I believe that Israel is being completely professional. If I was Israel I would bomb the crap out of them, but that's just me. I feel that Palestine needs to own up to there actions. This feud has been going on for far to long. if something isn't done about it soon then there will be dire consequences.
They Brought Rockets to a Missle Fight
There have been three people killed, and four wounded in Israel so far. Palestine has had 15 deaths and 120 wounded. Gaza has fired at least 274 missiles into Israel since Wednesday, when "Operation Pillar of Defense" began. There have been over 140 strikes on Gaza so far, Isreal has aimed for over 250 "terrorist sites".

Isreal attacks!
On Wednesday November 10,2012 Israel launched a series of bombs on the Gaza strip killing the chief of Hama's military wing and 8 other people. There were at least 70 strikes by warplanes and ships, officials from Palestinian militant groups said. As night fell, more air strikes could be heard, and Hamas security officials said four more attacks hit empty swaths of farmland in Gaza late. The IDF said at least 128 rockets had been fired from Gaza since Saturday.

Israel Not Overreacting
In the country of Israel, there has been a lot of fighting lately. Palestine was the first to attack Israel, although Israel's retaliation was much more intense. I think some people are trying to make Palestine look like the victim, but I am siding with Israel. I think that Israel was right to defend themselves. The reason that they may have responded so much stronger is to try and show Palestine that they do not have a chance. Overall, I do not think Israel overreacted in this situation.
Gangs Affecting Society
Gangs are everywhere. Their violence affects everyone, for people in neighborhoods, to communities, and businesses all around the world. The general public is facing the critical social economic issue of gang violence. In the world there are now over 1.4 million different gangs with more than 250,000 members. Gang violence has consequences. Some of the consequences of gang violence are medical, personal, and financial. Americans are estimated to pay the cost of 655 billion dollars each year do the Gang violence. Businesses and communities have at least 100 million dollars each year stolen form them by Gangs. A solution to solving Gang violence is to educate people about prevention to gang violence.

Gangster Territory
Six people shot in a result of California gangs by "claiming territory." Officials say that graffiti was painted disrespecting certain gangs from the East and West side. Six people resulted dead by local gang members just 'fighting for a piece of street.'
This is a incident resulting in six people getting shot because a few people graffitied making fun and disrespecting something that is frequently not their business to be apart unless you are part of the gang. This reminds me of what Mr. Thissell is talking about in class about mimicking gangs and not taking them seriously. This is the teacher's speech in action.
Question:
What are your says in such an incident?

Gagnam Style shootout; Sal Paulo Truce is Over
In Bangkok in mid September, a couple kids from rival teenage gangs fired at least 50 shots, after a dance-off to the song "Gangnam Style". A member from each gang comfronted eachother with the moves mimicing PSY, a Korean performer who sang and danced to the hit song "Gangnam Style". The kids got really drunk, after a night of partying and drinking, and the dance-off got taken way to seriously as the two groups of kids fired on eachother. There were many vehicles damaged, but no people were harmed.
In Sao Paulo a six year truce between rival gangs has been ended. A local shopkeeper Vanuza Alves da Silva says has seen a surge in killings in her slum neighborhood. Seven people were killed in a single night last week, including a police officer and a 13 year old boy. Sao Paulo is set to host the World Cup opening match in 2014. There have been around 150 homicides, and 94 police killed in Sao Paulo just this year.

Gangs In our world (#bloggergang)
Gangs in our world today have grown majorly in recent years. they have always been around big cities like in America the top five cities with gang violence and growth are Long Beach, Los Angeles, Newark, Oakland and Oklahoma City. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have resulted that a mass amount of gang violence and homicide come from higher and up gangs from these cities and trickle down to cities all around the country and even the world.
Prevention on gang violence is an on going battle and war between gang's them self and the goverment enforecers. many people have been killed or ingured and the amount of those people grow each year. many officers dedicate there lives to stop the violence but with the mass growth over recent years we all wonder if it will come to an end soon or has the violence just begun?

Gangs affect on society
Gangs have a big affect on society. They affect public saftey, and community image. In 2010 there was an estimated 29,400 gangs and 756,000 gang members throughout 3,500 jurisdictions across the United States. Gang-related homicides increased more than 10 percent from 2009 in cities with populations of more than 100,000. Highly populated areas accounted for the vast majority of gang-related homicides nationally. Gang members were less likely to migrate to smaller areas and had most likely migrated for social, not illegitimate, reasons.

Police: Teen injured in gang-related attack
Teen said attackers fled together in SUV
MADISON, Wis. -
A Madison teenager told police he was punched and kicked by about five men during an attack Tuesday night.
Police said they were called by the 15-year-old’s mother at 7:10 p.m. to report the incident, which occurred at the Madison Metro West Transfer Point on Tokay Boulevard.
The teen told police the attackers used hooded sweatshirts to conceal their faces and drove off in a black SUV.
Police said they believe the attack is gang-related.
The teenager was not seriously injured.
Gang's and Prevention.
Gangs of all levels and types usually have a negative effect on society. Higher-level gangs that are investigated by the FBI sometimes force the agency to utilize very risky and very expensive resources like high-tech surveillance, and witness protection programs. Gangs also can bring down the property value of neighborhoods from the violence and vandalism involved with gang life. They can also force prices to go up, in exchange to think it's 'protection'.
Prevention: Teenage gang prevention often involves early intervention by special at-risk programs that offer mentorship and activities to do after school. If they keep themselves busy with activities and thing's to do after school, it's better then involving themselves in a gang and taking a risk to get killed. For older gangs that are more organized or commit more violent crimes, prevention usually involves getting the community to protect itself. They also need to not create enviorments where it would make gangs easy for them to take things.
What do you think about all of this? Do you think were doing a good job preventing it?

Brooklyn Gangsters get caught
In Brooklyn, the members of an outlaw motorcycle gang, the Forbidden Ones, secured themselves with assault rifles, pistols and even grenades to protect themselves from intruders, the authorities said. But their first — and most imposing — line of defense was a cannon, at the ready with .50-caliber rounds, aimed at the door should anyone dare to infiltrate their ranks. But what the men did not know was that despite their fortifications, one of their own had turned on them. Their very own “enforcer,” responsible for ensuring that they were all well armed with guns and explosives, was a confidential informer working with New York police officers and federal agents to uncover the sale of a huge cache of weapons. In predawn raids on Tuesday, law enforcement officials arrested seven members of the Forbidden Ones and two other Brooklyn-based motorcycle gangs, the Dirty Ones and the Troublemakers, and charged them with trafficking high-caliber weapons. The men arrested had nicknames like Spider and Afro, and some literally wore their accomplishments on their sleeves. The “1% patch” they wore declared that they had rejected society and lived outside the law. And the “bangout patch,” showing two handguns crossing each other, signified that the member had assaulted or had another confrontation with the police.
One way we could prevent these kind of things from happening is having undercover cops in gang member groups like in this article. What are some ideas that you think that would prevent this kind of stuff from happening?

Cow Murders Man (Boss)
During the palestinian celebration of Eid al-Adha Gaza hea;th official said, "Muslims around the world slaughter sheep, cows and goats, during the four-day holiday that began Friday, giving away much of the meat to the poor. The Muslim holiday commemorates the sacrifice by the Prophet Ibrahim, known to Christians and Jews as Abraham." Accidents occur very often in the events of Eid al-Adha. during the fourth day of the celebration the cow was being preped for salughter and was spooked. The Gaza Crisis
Posted Sunday, February 01, 2009.
The Israeli offensive on Hamas in the Gaza Strip on 27th December, 2008 ended on January 17, 2009 when both Hamas and Israel announced separate ceasefires, which have turned out to be quite fragile. The 3 week offensive claimed some 1,300 Palestinian lives, 400 of which were children. Another 5,000 were injured including some 1,800 children and 800 women. 13 Israelis were also killed. How did this crisis come about and what were some of the issues raised?

I am the one hiding under your bed
Teeth ground sharp and eyes glowing red
I am the one hiding under your stairs
Fingers like snakes and spiders in my hair
This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!
In this town we call home
Everyone hail to the pumpkin song
In this town, don't we love it now?
Everybody's waiting for the next surprise
Round that corner, man hiding in the trash can
Something's waiting now to pounce, and how you'll...
Scream! This is Halloween
Red 'n' black, slimy green
Aren't you scared?
Well, that's just fine
Say it once, say it twice
Take a chance and roll the dice
Ride with the moon in the dead of night
Everybody scream, everybody scream

Another Drug Rant about why Marijuana is illegal
Why is Marijuana Illegal? I asked this same question and so I Googled it. in the search I came across a very informative articular made by Pete Guither on DrugWarRant.com. In the articular Pete tells of how and why Marijuana is illegal. And surprising enough Marijuana is not illegal because of its dangerous nature, it has actually become illegal due to big businesses not liking it and making it illegal so that their profits will rise. Marijuana was not made illegal because of medical research just big businesses wanting more money. But I don't think the government will legalize it any time soon because now that it is illegal research is coming out with reasons to.

Drug use and its social effects.
Substance abuse has been linked to a great deal of social problems. abuse, violence, criminal actions, incarcerations, and birth defects are just a few examples of the problems caused. Family members of substance abusers are much more likely to abuse substances themselves. Up to a third of prison inmates reported being under the influence of a drug when they commited their crime.
Interestingly, substance abuse seems to increase the rates of spouse abuse, and spouse abuse seems to increase the rates of substance abuse.
Additionally, substance abuse has a variety of ways to draw people in. Peer pressure, Curiosity, Seeking to escape a current situation, etc.

Toilets and Water
"... none of us should tolerate a world in which over 1 million children are, in a perversely literal sense, dying for a glass of water and a toilet." Kevin Watkins, 2006
I know we are supposed to talking about the social impacts of intoxicants; however, we were talking about toilets in Econ and I ran across this. Why build schools when so many children need a potty and a glass of water?
The builders of the Indus River Valley Civilization, perhaps the first, knew the value of water and sanitation. The Romans knew it. It took the people of western Europe in cities like London and Paris, a thousand years and a few plagues to figure it out. If an army marches on its stomach, then a population only lives with water. How happy were you this morning to stumble into the bathroom without much thought and take a hot shower? How can you help to give less privileged children the same basic human needs?

The effects of Bath Salts
The effects of bath salts are pretty intense. For one, the symptoms are very similar to meth and cocaine. The information on the entire effects of bath salts are on this website: http://www.burningtree.com/bath-salts-abuse/. In the emergency room they try to sedate a person who has overdosed on bath salts and they use the typical treatment of pshycosis, but when the sedation wears off they return to the state of phsycosis they were in before sedation. Then there is the special case where there is the craving of human flesh, just like a freaking zombie. The use of this drug can cause the user to commit violent acts, such as violent suicides, harming those around them, and there have been the severe cases of murder. How scary is that? No one should do this it is just terrifying. We do not want to turn into flesh eating monsters.... Let's not create the end of the world pretty please?
Substance Abuse
Substance abuse causes a lot of trouble and affects mostly everyone. In families were a parent or parents are substance abusers they tend to neglect their children.Teenagers who grow up in a house were someone uses substance abuse tend to them themselves be substance abusers. Substance abuse is one of the most preventable issues that we as a society are forced to face. Society is largely affected by substance abusers, resulting in injuries and death. “Most experts agree that addiction has a ripple effect. It brings discord not only into the home but to the society as well.” (Chy King)

Technology mixed with American history?
I think it's cool that a videogame would keep real history and not try to make it all unreal and stupid. It's annoying When people try to make a game about real life and then make it completly ridiculous.
American history unfolds in 'Assassin's Creed 3'
By Larry Frum, CNN | October 19, 2012
History, we are told, is immutable. What has happened cannot be changed and, when lessons are not heeded, is doomed to repeat itself. The entertainment industry, however, has been known to tamper with our historical memories, changing them to fit a story or to create an entirely alternate version of history. Developers at Ubisoft decided to leave real history alone but explore its gray, murky areas where creative license can still exist in their upcoming video game, "Assassin's Creed III. " (It's set for release October 30 in North America.)

Bathsalt Affect.
Basalt is dangerous. For two reasons; dosage, and sleep deprivation. This contains mephedrone and methylenedioxypyrovalerone. Found in the middle east and in the east african countries. however, that since some varieties of bath salts are chemical grab bags containing any number of drugs, it’s certainly possible that hallucinogens are occasionally in the mix. But the addiction isn't the main problem. The predictable result is paranoia, panic attacks, mood swings and reckless behavior. As well as hypothermia kicks in causing you to heat up. When putting those together you get the 'dark hell' everyone says. With enough of the substance coursing through someone’s body, and several nights of not sleeping, could you end up with someone gnawing off another person’s face? Yes.. Could happen. Taking this drug isn't a good thing. Just 'cause it's llegal doesn't mean you should go ahead and try it.

Painkiller Abuse by Kids
Kids are abusing painkillers at a rate that is 40 percent higher than in older generations. It's now the second most common illegal drug used after marijuana. Some of the drugs being used now are vicodin, valium and oxycontin.Richard Miech, a professor of sociology at the University of Colorado, Denver has been studying it, according to his research there is a 129 percent increase in emergency department visits between 2004 and 2009. There are more than 500 percent increase in the number of people seeking treatment for addiction to prescription opioids between 1997 and 2007. There is a threefold increase in accidental overdose deaths between the 1990s and 2007. There are more accidental deaths due to overdose of painkillers than there are with cocaine now.

effects of substance abuse on society
Drug addiction is a public health problem that cost the U.S. $468 billion dollars in 2005.
50 to 80 percent of child abuse and neglect cases involve substance abuse by the children's parents.
Crimes related to drug abuse include stealing to obtain money needed to buy drugs, buying or selling drugs and offenses related to the lifestyle of drug abusers that result in illegal activities. Half of those arrested for serious crimes, including murder, robbery and assault, were under the influence of illegal drugs.
My question is do you judge people who have a drug problem? Why? What do you think when you see a drug addict?

29 Year Old Killed by Drugs
On About.com there is an article that talks about how the 29 year old son of the Philidelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid died of a heroin overdose. He was found in his dorm room slumped in his chair, dead. He had a known drug addiction and had been in prison before.
I think this article is very sad to read because this kid could have had a great life, his dad was a coach for a famous team and Im sure he had the opportunity to do many amazing things, but he ended up spending part of his life in prison and dying at age thirty instead.
Do you think it's sad that someone like this would waste their life on drugs?

Why are people so terrified of Pittbulls?
I honestly do not understand why people are so afraid of these dogs, they have a bad name because of irrisponsible owners treating them badly and negatively and they end up being not very people friendly. It isn't the dog's fault, its the people who mistreated the poor animal. There is a group of people, heck they have their own show on animal planet. Pitt Bulls and Parolees. The owner and founder of this place, Tia Torres has the biggest heart in all the world she takes in unwanted and unloved dogs, and people. She was based out of Los Angles until the people around them deemed them unsafe. They have officially moved to New Orleans, and they have finally made a major impact.
I honestly do not understand why so many people can be so afraid of something so freaking cute? Well there is a stereotype that pitt bulls will bite your face off. Well I'm sorry but:
I absolutely love pitt bulls heck, I have one. He is honestly just a play crazy dog. They are honestly incredible dogs, and they are very loyal. No one should say that all pittbulls are dangerous. Not all of them are aggressive and mean. The only reason that a pittbull would be aggressive is because of how it's owner has treated them. Some people get pittbulls just to get them for fighting dogs. If the dog dies, they just throw the body away. I love pittbulls this issue should most definatelly be fixed. Pittbulls are amazing.

Central high schools lunch time
Right know I am very hungry and to bad for me lunch is over in central high school. doesn't it seem like lunch is to short? well the truth is lunch is very short, it is only 35 minutes long. Don't you think with every student in central high school getting let out for lunch all at the same time it would be a little heck-tic to get a descent lunch that will help us be full for long enough to finish school and have actually learnt something. Yes some kids do get a good lunch and learn stuff but not all students do and for all the ones that don't would most defiantly like at least the same opportunity as the other students. I am very concerned with this because I am one of these students I really like to go out and eat a descent lunch and not have to rush back to school and not finish my lunch and have my money go down the drain. so with this I say we bring attention to the school board and demand this be changed. we a

Wandering Above the Sea of Fog
Caspar David Friedrich, 1818
This image was on the cover of one of the most influencing history books that I read in college, and it has made me think ever since.
Who is this dude and where is he going?
Is he traveling on the land or is he at the edge of the sea?
How does he feel about his journey.
Is it the beginning or the end of his journey, is he about to embark or is he looking back in reflection? Maybe he just got off of his horse at a scenic overlook to check things out.
Is the theme of hope present in this image?
Also, why are we in education so enamored by this image?

This art reminds me of the clash we all see every 4 years. The presidential election. It is characterised by 2 main vocal sides, with a quieter group in the middle. Nowadays we rarely see people voting for a president based on his ideals. Most votes are polarized by which candidate we relate the most to, even if we hold separate ideals. Studies have been done that show this. Groups of people were asked what they believed the government should be focusing on, and their answers (most of the time) did not match up with their preferred candidate.
More on the art, I feel it is relaxing and calming. What does this art make you feel? Does it make you think of any contemporary issues?

Car Crashes Related to Texting
I read an article that showed the relationship between car crashes and texing while driving. A leading cause of car crashes is distracted drivers. Texting while driving has been proven to distract drivers. According to this article most people know that using technology while driving is distracting but they do it anyway. I think this article shows that having hand held electronic devices has increased driving distractions, and therefore has increased the death-rate in the world.
How electronics today are changing our lives
The electronics of the modern era are changing our social interactions with other human beings. Instead of going out to a social event we sit and read about it on facebook or twitter. We have suddenly changed from craving social interaction to now being almost socially incapable. We have officially changed to the point, if our phones are lost it is absolutely the end of the world. We now have laws against texting and driving because there has been so many accidents that have killed people because people were not paying attention to the road and all of the other people in the vehicle have been punished or harmed when the driver that has possibly killed half of the passengers for their stupid mistake.
The electronics of the day, has changed all generations. For instance, I walk around and I see ten year olds with Iphones and Ipods. The technology of today has made us as a whole very antisocial.

Great Smog of 1952
From 12/5/52 to 12/9/52 a smog smothered London. This smog wasn't the first, but it was certainly one of the worst. Some of the worst reports were of visibility dropping to mere inches. People were getting lost in their own neighborhoods and theaters were closing because the smog was seeping in and blocking the screen. The city of London came to a complete stand still. The smog was so thick with pollution that 4,000 were reported to have died while the smog was there, with another 8,000 that would die from lingering problems. The Great Smog of 1952 was so severe that it prompted the first anti pollution laws in recorded history. The use of these laws quickly spread afterwards, and raised awareness over the environment.
Smogs were not unusual in London, and there was no panic despite the unusual thickness of this particular smog. Do you think you could find your way around your neighborhood if a smog that thick rolled in?

Rosa Parks
On December 1, 1951, Rosa Parks did something completely unexpected. She didn't give her bus seat up to a white working class man. She had sparked a revolution for the African Americans, at the same time of her arrest for breaking the Jim Crowe laws, there were boycotts of the Montgomery bus system. This event was a major catalyst of the black rights movement.
